Manchester Animal Shelter
Charters Brothers is excited to announce construction is well underway on a new design-build project for Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter — a strategic addition and renovation that will expand capacity, improve operations, and enhance the level of care provided to animals in need in Manchester NH.
The project includes a new ~1,200 sq. ft. addition featuring updated office and reception areas, dedicated feline and adoption rooms, an isolation suite, restrooms, and expanded support spaces including food prep, laundry, pantry, and a staff break room. It also introduces new surgery, treatment, and recovery rooms to strengthen the Shelter’s medical capabilities.
We’re also renovating ~2,000 sq. ft. of existing kennel space, delivering 18 new kennels with improved drainage, upgraded doors and enclosure systems, epoxy flooring, and refreshed lighting and finishes to create a cleaner, healthier environment for dogs.
Construction is being carefully phased to minimize disruption. Work began during the winter months—when kennel occupancy was lowest—and includes completing the new addition first so shelter operations can temporarily shift while the existing building is renovated.
