In January of 2017, Charters Brothers successfully delivered a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy to the owner’s of the Bake Funeral Home in Chelmsford, MA for this beautiful 12,000 sf building. In the spring a Final Certificate of Occupancy was delivered and the building was fully operational. As the General Contractor, Charters Brothers worked with the Owner, Gavin & Sullivan Architects, the Owner’s Civil Engineer, and Charters Brothers’ selected MEP design-build team to construct this first class facility.

The project possessed many challenges which Charters Brothers was able to overcome: Keeping the owners existing building/business fully operational until the new facility received it’s Temporary Certificate of Occupancy was the first priority. This was a challenging task with existing building within the footprint of the proposed Carport. With creative thinking and excellent planning, this obstacle was overcome, the new building was constructed, deemed occupiable, then the old building demolished. Other challenges emerged throughout the project, including a large amount of unexpected ledge and rock removal but, Charters Brothers was able to successfully work through them.
