Enterprise Bank Old City Hall Renovation
Lowell MA
In August of 2011, Charters Brothers was awarded the historic restoration of Enterprise Bank & Trust Corporate Headquarters, formerly Old City Hall of Lowell MA. The building is a nationally registered structure situated in the Lowell Historic National Park. The project required an accelerated schedule as the exterior work had to be complete before the winter months.
The project involved restoration and repair of over one hundred historic windows, a new slate roof and copper flashings, new low slope roofing, re-pointing of the façade, wood restoration, paint, mechanical, electrical, and interior office work.
Challenges included: working on an occupied building in downtown Lowell, inclement weather resulting in six working weeks lost, temporary solutions for cooling during the removal and reinstallation of heating and cooling units, and problem solving for numerous unforeseen conditions.

“Throughout a very complex renovation, both the project manager Brad Charters and his superintendent Jim Page maintained very effective lines of communication and consistently kept the bank informed about potential cost changes and schedule differences. They maintained a professional project site, keeping traffic and customers moving and safe at all times. When issues arose, Charters Brothers took responsibility where necessary and kept the project moving, always keeping the best interests of the bank in mind.
I would highly recommend Charters Brothers for any project in need of a capable, professional and respectful construction manager who is not afraid to go the extra mile for a client. ”
