UNH Heating Hot Water and Domestic Hot Water Upgrades from Stillings to Mclaughlin
Durham NH
UNH Energy selected Charters Brothers as their Construction Manager in charge of replacing an aging underground heating hot water and domestic hot system connecting four of the campuses buildings; Stilling’s, Jesse Doe, Lord, and McLaughlin.
Located in a congested area of campus surround by student dormitories and with limited access, careful planning and execution of the work to minimize impact to the adjacent dormitories and the Hamilton Smith Rec Center was a top priority. A thorough preconstruction effort resulted in materials and manpower being procured on time and the approval to close one lane of traffic on an adjacent roadway expedited the work and set the project up for success.
Charters Brothers coordinated carefully with UNH Energy & Utilities and Durham First Responders to successfully plan and execute the work in the most efficient way possible, minimizing the impact to the University, students, staff and the public.
Assembling the right team and phasing the project across two years, Charters Brothers was able to successfully complete each phase before the students arrived for the start of their Fall semester.
