UNH Thompson Hall Modernization
July 15, 2025
We’re in the final stages of the elevator modernization at Thompson Hall (T-Hall)—a true landmark on the University of New Hampshire’s Durham campus.
Built in 1892 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, T-Hall was the first building on campus. It has served many roles over the years—classrooms, dorms, even a basketball court—and today remains the heart of the university, housing the Office of the President and other key departments.
We’re proud to support the preservation and accessibility of this iconic building as it continues to serve future generations of students and staff. With construction now underway and nearing the final stages, we have now completed the demolition and replacement of the existing jack assembly, extending a mere 45’ into the ground through solid ledge, replaced the existing control unit along with all hydraulic lines, and are now underway with car finishes and door replacements at each elevator lobby. Over the course of the next few weeks, CBC will work closely with UNH Facilities, Stanley Elevator, and the State Fire Marshall Office to tie up the finite details and complete final inspections.
We’re ahead of schedule and under budget—and excited to turn the elevator back over to UNH!
